Each candle is carefully crafted by hand on Cortes Island.

Our wood-heated studio is in a humid climate, where temperature and moisture fluctuations influence how the wax cools and sets. Small air bubbles or subtle texture variations do not affect how the candle burns, and are a natural reflection of the traditional methods we use.

Notes & Care for Beeswax Candles

Before Lighting

Trim the wick to about ¼ inch before each burn. This helps ensure a steady flame and reduces smoking. Place the candle on a heat-resistant, stable surface away from drafts.

Burn Time

Allow pillar candles to burn long enough for the melt pool to form evenly across the top. This helps prevent tunnelling.

Storage

After extinguishing, let the candle cool completely before moving. Store candles in a cool, dry place, out of direct sunlight.

Bloom

Pure beeswax will develop a light white haze called bloom. It can be gently buffed away with a soft cloth if desired.
